Was listening to Do you realise? by the Flaming Lips yesterday and there was one line of the song that made me sit back and actually think about it.

Do You Realise - that everyone..... you know..... someday..... will die

I'd never actually thought about that, or even realised it to be honest but it's true, everyone i know in my life right now will eventually be gone (including me) quite a humbling thought and makes me appreciate the time i, and all my friends, have left.

So any song lyrics that have got you thinking or touched you?

Savage Garden - Affirmation

I believe the sun should never set upon an argument
I believe we place our happiness in other people's hands
I believe that junk food tastes so good because it's bad for you
I believe your parents did the best job they knew how to do
I believe that beauty magazines promote low self-esteem
I believe I'm loved when I'm completely by myself alone

I believe in karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love till you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye

I believe you can't control or choose your sexuality
I believe that trust is more important than monogamy
I believe your most attractive features are your heart and soul
I believe that family is worth more than money or gold
I believe the struggle for financial freedom is unfair
I believe the only ones who disagree are millionaires

I believe in karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love till you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye

I believe forgiveness is the key to your unhappiness
I believe that wedded bliss negates the need to be undressed
I believe that God does not endorse TV evangelists
I believe in love surviving death into eternity

I believe in karma what you give is what you get returned
I believe you can't appreciate real love till you've been burned
I believe the grass is no more greener on the other side
I believe you don't know what you've got until you say goodbye

This thread made me dig this up:

Hollywood Undead - I Must Be Emo

Dear Diary:

Mood: Apathetic.

My life is spiralling downward. I couldn't get enough money to go to the Blood Red Romance and Suffocate me dry concert. It sucks 'cause they play some of my favorite songs like 'Stab My Heart Because I Love You' and 'Rip Apart My Soul' and of course, 'Stabby Rip Stab Stab'. And it doesn't help that I couldn't get my hair to do that flippy thingy. Like that guy from that band can do. Some days, you know...

I'm an emo kid, non-conforming as can be
You'd be non-conforming too if you looked just like me
I have paint on my nails and make-up on my face
I'm almost emo enough to start shaving my legs
'Cause I feel real deep when I'm dressing in drag
I call it freedom of expression, most just call me a fag
'Cause our dudes look like chicks, and our chicks look like d***s
'Cause emo is one step below transvestite!

Stop my breathing and slit my throat
I must be emo
I don't jump around when I go to shows
I must be emo

I'm dark, and sensetive with low self-esteem
The way I dress makes every day feel like Halloween
I have no real problems but I like to make believe
I stole my sister's mascara now I'm grounded for a week
Sulking and writing poetry are my hobbies
I can't get through a Hawthorne Heights album without sobbing
Girls keep breaking up with me, it's never any fun
They say they already have a p***y, they don't need another one

Stop my breathing and slit my throat
I must be emo
I don't jump around when I go to shows
I must be emo
Dye in my hair and polish on my toes
I must be emo
I play guitar and write suicide notes
I must be emo

My life is just a black abyss, you know, it's so dark. And it's suffocating me. Grabbing ahold of me and tightening its grip, tighter than a pair of my little sister's jeans... which look great on my by the way.

When I get depressed I cut my wrists in every direction
Hearing songs about getting dumped give me an erection
I write in a live journal and wear thick rimmed glasses
I told my friends I bleed black and cry during classes
I'm just a bad, cheap imitation of goth
You can read me "Catcher in the Rye," and watch me jack off
I wear skin tight clothes while hating my life
If I said I like girls, I'd only be half right!

I look like I'm dead and dress like a homo
I must be emo
Screw XBox, I play old school Nintendo
I must be emo
I like to whine and hate my parentals
I must be emo
Me and my friends all look like clones
I must be E-Mo

My parents just don't get me, you know. They think I'm gay just because they saw me kiss a guy. Well, a couple guys. But I mean, it's the 2000s. Can't 2... or 4 dudes make-out with each other without being gay? I mean, chicks dig that kind of thing anyways. I don't know diary, sometimes I think you're the only one that gets me, you're my best friend...

I prefer the bands members were in prior to Skyclad; Martin Walkyier was in Sabbat, Steve Ramsey and Graeme English were in Satan, Pariah and Blind Fury!

And there's nothing wrong with bands having a folky element... Flogging Molly and Dropkick Murphys are both decent enough!

Just to go back to the original idea of this thread...

Skyclad - Thinking Allowed?

My mind was a time bomb that was set to explode
So I packed up my cares, into the sunset I rode
A path to hell that's paved with good intentions.
Well I guess you and I will never see eye to eye
But if there's one thing I'll be glad to know when I die
It's that I never entertained your “Can't Conventions.”
Two men gaze from behind their prison bars
One man sees dirt, the other sees stars

I'm just thinking aloud,
Isn't thinking allowed?
Just let your mind wander, it may never come back
Set off on a new train of thought on life's track.
I'm just thinking aloud,
Isn't thinking allowed?
Why is nobody thinking?

How can you call me a failure or a social defective
When to find your own mind, you'd need a private detective?

I'm not a statistic or a regular family man
I don't give a damn about public relations
I'll never live up to your great expectations
You can take or leave me just the way I am.
Your straight jacket emotions only stifle and kill
The spirit within us all I call free will.

I'm just thinking aloud,
Isn't thinking allowed?
Two men gaze from behind their prison bars
One man sees dirt, the other sees stars.
I'm just thinking aloud,
Isn't thinking allowed?
