I'm all angry and began typing a load of random semi-meaningful rubbish.

I hate this stupid government and their "Ooh lets copy America" crap, I hate the narrow minded middle class people who have nothing better to do that act politically correct and I hate the damn leeching monarchy. I hate the media and their lies, I hate the stupid working class sun readers who think it is clever to have a discussion about an anecdote they read in the back of The Daily Sport and I hate writers who do nothing but criticise other people in an uncreative way.

I felt much better after typing it so there must be some emotional trigger to my anger embedded in that paragraph. I wonder if anyone agrees with me on any of those issues or if I am rather individual in my annoyances. The last sentence of the paragraph is intentionally ironic.

That was a military dictatorship by Cromwell and was only a republic in name. It certainly wasn't a democracy.

That is the worst reasoning for not having a republic I have ever seen, we have come along way since the 17th Century.

As for the name instead of United Kingdom it could be United Republics. No real bother there. And the Queens role is ceremonial at best.

Yes the government in this country is poor. however I am a pro-monarchist and not many people know but the queen does perform a major role in the governing of this country. We were a republic once before and look what happened then! I just think Britain wouldn't be Britain if it was a republic it certainly could not be called the UK and an elected president of the republic of Great Britain just does not sound right (if we stay as Great Britain- if America get there way we won't I have a friend doing American studies and he spent a year in America they kept saying "Why is Britain so Great?" and "Why is Britain great and not the USA?" etc.

The Sun is poor. This goverment is terrible. Writers who think they are some genius' in the way they express there 'opinions' - when really it is just high school slaggin off on the latest celebrity. No creativity like you said.I do not like utter conformists and the way we are being brain washed to go to uni.

According to who? Last thing I heard, from some proper study, they paid for themselves in tourism comfortably.
That was a few years ago, but I can't see things having changed all that much...
