But after thinking about it, there are several reasons why this transfer might just happen and why Viduka may just be the man United need!
------------------
5 Reasons why I think the may just sign in January:
1) A decent Premiership Proven quality striker - not someone coming in from a different part of the world who would probabaly take ages to settle in, only needs to cross the pennines.
2) Won't cost a lot probably around the £5 mil mark which is ideal for Fergie and Co.
3) Can Lead the line on his own (as shown at Leeds) which is ideal for United as he can give Ruud a rest when United play their 'European Style' formation or can be a decent partner for any of our current strikers let alone van Nistlerooy.
4) Eligible for European Football - something United are looking for United
5) Leeds need all the money they can get so it won't be too much of a hassle signing him either.
------------------
All in all it makes sense to sign him. I know he's been a bit of a pain to Leeds at times but im sure Alex Ferguson would sort him out and he would be a decent signing for us because any alternative transfer would probably take far too long. A deal for a player like Van der Vaart, would take time to put through and we only have 1 month to sort something out.

Infact, you could even try to compare this move to that of Eric Cantona's to United 11-odd-years-ago - although, I very much doubt Viduka will have quite that effect on the club!
A "controversial striker moving across the Pennines on the cheap"...
Sounds very familiar, doesn't it?! :)
If Fergie can "control" him (and if he can do it to Keano, Schmeichel and Cantona, and the rest - I'm sure he can with Viduka!), he could be a good addittion to the squad, for however-long he is need.
Trouble is, though, I still can't see why he'd be wanted for any more than 2 seasons at the most. Why have Mark Viduka when you could get your hands on an "even better", younger striker in the Summer?
But to be honest, I don't really care WHO it is we do sign next month - just as long as Fergie DOES bring-in another No.9 capable of holding the frontline, scoring goals and supporting Ruud van Nistelrooy (and yes, Viduka fits the bill, here). Yes... Even a flaming ARSENAL player would do!! :S :O
But will Leeds still be willing to sell him?
If this takeover deal goes through soon, they may no longer be so in-need of instant cash to save their crisis - infact, it could all be over before we know it (or, at least, on it's way away)!
And on the pitch, I'm sure Eddie Gray will know that, despite what he can and has been like recently, they still 'need' Mark Viduka in order to survive the drop. Alan Smith and co. can only do so-much. And what if they were to suddenly lose him through injury or suspension, while unable to bring-in anyone new in January, after learning the true-value of money to them??
No matter how much is offered, there's no guarrentee they `WILL´ sell...
