I got a new CPU for my computer, the problem is it is the wrong shape to fit on my existing motherboard. I sorted this by trimming a load of the pins off of the CPU, and widened the CPU socket by stretching it slightly with a small screwdriver. It just fits in nicely now. But when I switch it on, nothing happens. Ideas? It's doing my sodding head in!

hehe...Back to the Future references.
Ahhhh...I am so alone.
Sounds like you've just f****d your computer and your motherboard and your CPU mate.
Your motherboard was probably too old for the processor which takes a new socket size.
Your not meant to tamper with the pins/widen the ZIF socket!
