Zalman do some rather lovely graphics card cooling.

I need some better cooling. Methinks the fans Dell gave me didn't have overclocking in mind...

Sod watercooling, I just need a fan of somesort. What would you suggest?

I won't push my 9800 to pro standards, just a little bit before....

Ha ha, it seems that you are feeling jealous because ive got an absolute bargain.

The mod on my card is a 100% success, the artifacting that i experienced was due to a conflict with my motherboard, as i used the 9800SE in my brothers comp and it ran flawlessly.

In the end i spent £160, you spent what? About £100 more?

I think im the one thats laughing.

Do you need this script for all ATi cards?

Where would I get it from?

9800 AIW is not a gamer's video card. It's the kind of card you'll find stuck in Packard Bell's etc, with the TV tuner and 128Mb RAM wooing the unknowledgable crowds.

So you can apparently 'open up' the extra four pipelines. So what? You say it only has around a 67% success rate, and even when it does work you get artifacts without any actual overclocking? Dodgy...

Definately a poor-man's 9800, and not really worthy of it's 9800 tag. I'll stick with my proper 9800 pro, and all of the 6126 '03 3dmarks it can muster, thankyouverymuch.

Aha thats more efficient right? Hence it dissipates less heat etc...(well that (sort of) explains why my card has no fan)

are those the only diffrences?

Try it with the rivatuner program, (you need to also download the script that unlocks the card parameters set by ATI), you'd have to try hard to destroy the VPU as the new catalyst drivers =>3.8 have a feature that resets the VPU when it starts feeling the strain...

New 9600 is on the 0.13 process while the 9700/9800 are 0.15. I think the new 9800XT is pretty much pushing as much as you can out of the 0.15 process.

A 9600 would still be slower even with a faster clock. On the 9600 it has half the pipelines of the 9800 so that would slow the 9600 down.

DO you think overclocking a Mobility Radeon 9600 is the same?
