Someone's done this before, and I thought I'd resurrect a good idea. C'mon, geddem in!

Here's my favourite at the moment, No Remorse (Metallica, 1983)

No mercy for what we are doing
No thought to even what we have done
We don't need to feel the sorrow
No remorse for the helpless one

War without end
No remorse no repent
We don't care what it meant
Another day another death
Another sorrow another breath
No remorse no repent
We don't care what it meant
Another day another death
Another sorrow another breath

Blood feeds the war machine
As it eats its way across the land
We don't need to feel the sorrow
No remorse is the one command

War without end
No remorse no repent
We don't care what it meant
Another day another death
Another sorrow another breath
No remorse no repent
We don't care what it meant
Another day another death
Another sorrow another breath

Only the strong survive
No will to save the weaker race
We are ready to kill all comers
Like a loaded gun right at your face

War without end
No remorse no repent
We don't care what it meant
Another day another death
Another sorrow another breath
No remorse no repent
We don't care what it meant
Another day another death
Another sorrow another breath

Attack
Bullets are flying
People are dying
With madness surrounding all hell's breaking loose
Soldiers are hounding
Bodies are mounting
Cannons are shouting to take their abuse
With war machines going
Blood starts to flowing
No mercy given to anyone hear
The furious fighting
Swords are like lightning
It all becomes frightening
You know death is near
No remorse

Another great piece of lyricing: Black Sunshine by White Zombie and Iggy Pop.

Gripping the wheel his knuckles went white with desire
The wheels of his mustang exploding on the highway like a slug from a .45
True death: 400 horsepower of maximum performance piercing the night
This is black sunshine.

Yeah! move me in the silence baltic motorway
Hang me on the edge before I fall away
Apocalypse is dawnin’ action on the mile
A ’can-do’ revolution, earth to the river [nile]
Sweet’n the ride black sunshine
Sweet’n the ride, yeah!
Sweet’n the ride black sunshine
Sweet’n the ride, yeah!
Cry a river ’cosmic’, moon in scorpio
Feel her body ’breathe’, acid radio
Tell me that you like it, when I’m going down!
Tell me that you like it, move to the speed of [sound]
Sweet’n the ride black sunshine
Sweet’n the ride, yeah!
Sweet’n the ride black sunshine
Sweet’n the ride, yeah!
Go! slide into, I said ’44’ cool heart can
A hypnotize dream into infinity, I turned the love to lies
Crawl across the water, wave and sink into the sea
Reflect’n onto everything, that you can never be
’check-out!’, yeah!
To the devil a daughter comes 200 worlds away, yeah
Born to lose the love you choose, destroy another day
Check out!!
Sweet’n the ride black sunshine
Sweet’n the ride, yeah!
Sweet’n the ride black sunshine
Sweet’n the ride
Stare into the t.v. kiss off the pain
Wonderland is falling, no sing, no rain momentary
Damage into the high drift me to the circuit sky

Finally nothing moves. high noon.
Black top rolling below the asphalt drive
A concrete fascination scraping the edge of nothing
This is black sunshine.

Well I haven't seen anyone comment on any of these. Just people posting more of them. So what's the point?

There's no point posting entire songs, nobody's reading them. You can get a good lyric without boring people to tears.

And i see Elvis,
Elvis,
I see porn dogs sniffing the wind, sniffing the wind for something new,
porn dogs sniffing the wind for something violent that they can do,
porndogs sniffing the wind sniffing the wind for something new,
porndogs sniffing the wind for something violent for me and you.
will you be my big plaything my total big disorientator,
will you be my bigplaything,
my ninjapower,
my numbercruncher.

Utter gibberish, but I love Underworld ;)

Song : Gotta Knock A Little Harder

Happiness is just a word to me
And it might have meant a thing or two
If I'd known the difference

Emptiness, a lonely parody
And my life, another smokin' gun
A sign of my indifference

Always keepin' safe inside
Where no one ever had a chance
To penetrate a break in

Let me tell you some have tried
But I would slam the door so tight
That they could never get in

Kept my cool under lock and key
And I never shed a tear
Another sign of my condidtion

Fear of love or bitter vanity
That kept me on the run
The main events at my confession

I kept a chain upon my door
That would shake the shame of Cain
Into a blind submission

The burning ghost without a name
Was still calling all the same
But I just wouldn't listen

The longer I'd stall
The further I'd crawl
The further I'd crawl
The harder I'd fall
I was crawlin' into the fire

The more that I saw
The further I'd fall
The further I'd fall
The lower I'd crawl
I kept fallin' into the fire
Into the fire
Into the fire

Suddenly it occurred to me
The reason for the run and hide
Had totaled my existnce

Everything left on the other side
Could never be much worse that this
But could I go the distance

I faced the door and all my shame
Tearin' off each piece of chain
Until they all were broken

But no matter how I tried
The other side was locked so tight
That door it wouldn't open

Gave it all that I got
And started to knock
Shouted for someone
To open the lock
I just gotta get through the door

And the more that I knocked
The hotter I got
The hotter I got
The harder I'd knock
I just gotta break through the door

Gotta knock a little harder
Break through the door

And when Sabbath had Tony Martin as lead vocalist (1987-90 and 1992-96) the lyrics were very dark. Here's Headless Cross, from 1989. And the song's quite spooky as well, thanks to some rather basic but effective keyboardery from Geoff Nicholls

Look through the people, and on through the mist
To the hill of the headless cross
Where all witches meet, on a night such as this
And the power of darkness is host
They come face to face, eye to eye, soul to soul
With and angel that fell from the sky
Borne on the air, the screams and the wails
Of the masses appointed to die

Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture
At the headless cross, at the headless cross

From the first evil night, when a black flash of light
Cut the crucifix half to the ground
There’s been no escape from the power of satan
On a nation so brave and so proud

Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture
At the headless cross, at the headless cross

How do you feel, when the locks refuse the key
And the master is calling your name
Does the luck of the charm, really keep you from harm?
Does the talisman protect you from pain?

Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture
At the headless cross, at the headless cross

From the first evil night, when a black flash of light
Cut the crucifix half to the ground
There’s no escaping the power of satan
On a nation so brave and so proud

Listen for the feet as they pound the land to a tune of thunder
Watch as the legions ride again to a fate of death or torture, oh no, oh
At the headless cross, at the headless cross
At the headless cross, oh, at the headless cross
Where will you run to?
At the headless cross
Look, to the headless cross
