Either way you know Nintendo is more than likely going to be leading the pack. I'm not sure about the NGC controler, it just makes gaming easier and more intuitive, but I'm sure that Nintendo knows where games are heading, or where they should be heading. And I highly doubt it has anything to do with the Sony or MS vision.
Well, RPG to an extent is every genre right now anyway. That's basically what game playing is all about. To role play as another person or character. But online RPGs as they are now won't pull it off. They're having good success on PCs but the PC market is completely different from the console one and you never know how well a game like that will integrate, if at all.
It's very hard to say where games are heading in this generation because it's doubtfull that they will change much from what we already know other than becoming more emersive, diversified and catering a different experience to each player. That's about as far as we can go with the technology on hand. The next time technology goes through a hige shift, like between 2D and 3D, we'll have a better understanding of what's to come but that won't happen for a while, we're talking a few more generations at least.
That's what I think.
What do you think???
> I'll be quite pleased with the future of gaming if a game gets released on its expected date, without having to be rushed, or released in a non finished form. <
Yeah, but what are the chances of that happening?
> You say that online RPG's are only taking off on PC, well ive got three letters for you mate: PSO <
Not just that, but I have to wonder what he thinks makes the current MMOGs incapable of being realized on consoles. I'm sorry, but that just seems to lack rationale.
> Also, how can the Big N facilitate the future of online gaming when the 'Cube is being released as a games only machine? <
Um...Huh? Sorry, Your Honour, but that doesn't make any sense.
> I may be sounding a bit stupid here, but its not even going to come with a modem is it? <
This is unknown at present. Even the IGN guys have no clue; I haven't read anything regarding whether it'll come with one definitely or not anywhere else. But everyone I've talked with among the many gaming sites I visit has commented upon what's to come at E3. When it comes to Nintendo, they're massively hyped about something, but they're not allowed to report on it at the moment. In an ICQ conversation I had with one, he stated: "Get ready for the world to end. E3's going to break it apart." [His remarks were made regarding Nintendo specifically.]
> In my view, the next moderately large thing to come the way of computer games will develop as more people get broadband connections to the internet. This will allow players to talk over the net while playing games, thus bringing around a great feel of team spirit in games like TF. <
I agree with this actually. For one thing, anyone speaking dood will likely just get made fun of for talking stupid.
> The next "Big thing" after that will probably be the advent of good, solid virtual reality console/headset thingy's. <
Hmm...I don't know. There are a lot of people who simply couldn't handle the things from a neurological standpoint. If it ever does occur, it'll have to be cheap and systems shouldn't be designed specifically for them.

Thats my vision at least....
Actually ten seconds from now is the future of gaming.
Whooops, there it goes... now it's the history of gaming.
And I missed it typing this message.
The people you really wish would kill themselves can never figure out how suicide works...
I'll find what I said....
here it is:
A prediction of what is going to happen from the next fraction of a second til the end of intelligent life in the known Universe about gaming.
