"England a top seed?"

Who thinks England will be a top seed for their Euro 2004 finals group? If not, who will be (apart from Portugal of course). Discuss.

Also, on December 5th is the World Cup 2006 qualifying draw (yes, already). England weren't actually the top seeds in their group this year. It was Turkey. Surely England have proven that they can finish top of a Euro qualifying group by now?

Based on average points per match from World Cup 02 qualifiers and Euro 04 qualifyers.

These are the seedings for the Germany 2006 World Cup european section qualifiers

lets face it england will do good in the group stages. then comes the knockout, every one says it our yr...66...blah blah we get knocked out and then no one really cares about it anymore overhere.
Its a shame cause england have players that could beat any team in the world but they just never seem to do it when it matters.

FIFA have said England, France, Italy, Czech Rep, Turkey, Sweden, Spain and Portugal are going to be the top seeds on the December 5th draw for World Cup 2006 qualifying.

Rep of Ireland - 2nd seeds

Scotland - 3rd seeds

Wales - 4th seeds

Northern Ireland - 5th seeds

So... they might all be in one group, unless there's some sort of rule which doesn't allow home countries together.

As long as we don't draw France and Holland, we'll be alright.

My prediction is that it'll be:

Sweden
England
Denmark
Latvia

and I have a feeling we'll draw Scotland in the World Cup qualifyers.

It's a tough decision between any of the 4th seeds. There won't be any easy matches in Euro 2004, just matches which are easiER than others.

Greece, Switzerland and Latvia have all shocked us a bit lately so it's hard to choose the worst finalist.

Yes, although I suspect that Holland is interchangeable with Croatia.

Oh yeah, Portugal are the other top seed but that was guarenteed for them anyway.
