The car that pulled up was either a gangster car loaded with cash or one of those money transport wagons. The driver is shot and someone hijacks the car and thus a lot of money changes hands.
The car hits a person outside the hotel, and the person screams and says they will sue, but the driver says they will give them money to keep quiet.
