Rules Of Attraction
Otherwise, Donnie Darko. Also a great film, looking foward to seeing the Directors Cut next year.
1. Castaway:
It shows the portrayal of time in one mans' life and how he must struggle to find out what is really important to him.
2. Lord of the flies:
The breakdown of civilization amongst a group of school boys stranded on a desert island.
3. Animal Farm:
The idea of animals in Communism and how ideas fail.
4. Forrest Gump:
A touching story of how a simple American gets into just about every major event ever and becomes rich. Funny.
Definition: a word used by people who want to appear knowledgeable about films. When asked what it means they mumble something about how the film looks, something the Director of Photography will actually only have a small part in. Generally, it's a very technical task that has more to do with developing the physical film strip and shifting lights than anything all that interesting.
It is also an area that is practically impossible to assess as so many factors and other peoples work have to come together and work together to see the final image it’s like complementing a cake by saying it must have been mixed in a particularly good bowl. A film could have impeccable cinematography, but if the set design is off, the lead camera man is an ape and the movie is about a high school team’s struggle against the odds to beat their nasty neighbour rival in the last second of the last game of the season in a particularly unexpected way, no one will comment.
The “good cinematography” movie reviewer; probably kicks tires and puffs out cheeks when looking at second hand cars.
Rules Of Attraction is not a chick flick. Just because a film has the word 'Attraction' and Dawson in it does not make it a chick flick. You wait 'til Snuggly gets here...
