For the time being I'm at Uni a few days a week, and the rest of the week I'm working as a cretin in a local engineering company. I get told to put part (A) onto part (B), while bolting on part (C) and the like, you've probably all had similar terrible jobs.
Anyway, I desperately want to get out and do something different. So much so I've already written out my notice, with intent to hand it in on monday. But a nagging voice tells me it's a bad idea. The next part time job I get could be just as terrible, and may involve working at night, which would mean I would have to abstain from the karate and jujitsu lessons that I love so much, and have become part of me over time. Even so, I hate this current job so much I am willing to make that sacrifice, which is saying something. It'll only be til next July when I finish my course, but still ...
So many decisions - they've been a long time coming, the truth is I've been at Uni to avoid them, as a lot of people do.
No matter what others say to you, it's only you who can make the decision at the end of the day, but knowing this makes it no easier.
*sighs*
Such minor problems probably seem trivial, but the last time I felt this stressed I was doing my dissertation.
Like I said ... I need a kick up the ass ....
Thank you for at least reading this .....
... any spare change?
*runs*
sometimes you've got to take the plunge - this way I have severe motivation to get another job. should have one by next week, looking at night jobs, which would suit me more anyway, as then I can work full time and still go to uni.
got a tax rebate too, which was a nice surprise. thought I was gonna be severely skint, but should be ok for another few weeks.
*never heard before*
yes you could hand in your notice and in return get landed a job even worse than this one *shudders*
OR you could hand in your notice and find something much better
ORRRR
You could leave it and wait out the short time left (which would probably feel like a lifetime) But have money.
It all depends on how you would cope without the income. Whether you honestly and truly believe it would benefit you more to leave.

dissertations suck, don't let anyone tell you any different.
I quit my job in the end, at the beginning of this week. spent all week applying for jobs. no luck as yet.
so I think I'll get drunk
Surely you can kick your own ass? :D

oh no, thank YOU sir...
yeah, a lot valid ideas there guys. Light - I had originally intended to go onto an MSc after this course, but the large amount of debt and general loss of enthusiasm for more education has changed my mind.
I've been in education on and off for 24 years now and I want to get my teeth into a career. A few things a lot of friends have, you know - my own mortgaged house, regular holidays, a pension, general security and a feeling I'm finally running my own life with no help from others.
I've got to wait til next July until I graduate, but to me it's an age.
Of course, to quit that would be something that would haunt me for the rest of my life, so it's out of the question.
So I'll have to quit this stinking job instead. And while I'm at it, maybe I can get my foot in the door of the industry I'll be trying to break into - in a part time postition.
How long is the shelf life of those with computer science degrees, before they become obsolete? can't be very long.
