Should chat rooms be banned in colleges? Do u think that they r safe enough

Indeed.

New measures have been introduced to try and warn younger kids about the dangers.

Police are now going to schools and using a laptop they allow kids to talk on chat forums. Another officer pretends to be a kid and then they reveal he was a police officer at the end and then get the kids to describe how they feel and then warn them of the other dangers about giving out personal info.

Still I think this one falls down to parents and not educating their own kids on the dangers and the do's and don'ts

Agree with @ngel on this one, chat rooms are not inherently 'dangerous' in themselves. It's when you meet up with/give personal info to unknown's that you're asking for trouble.

i use to go on them at college when i had a spare hour till my next lesson, but yeah other then that people should be working. or yes they should be banned

Yeah but they're just idiots that really need to be educated.

Yeah exactly. It's was rather surprising to see in college that most of the time students were on hotmail on msn chatrooms rather than in Word or whatever doing work. Even those with computers at home chose to quite freely use hotmail on the college computers...

It's the same to a lesser extent at the general cluster machines at uni...

I dont think they should be banned. In college, students are responsible enough not to talk to strange people. Its young teens using chat rooms at their homes that is the problem. But with the staffies roaming around on here, these forums are fine. As for chat rooms being banned at colleges because people are not doing their work is another matter -ahem.
