Some joker mailed me a chicken leg in a jiffy bag.
the post mark said the lake district, so I'm assuming some freakshow went for a short break there, and after seeing a (hopefully dead) chicken, the cogs started turning upstairs, and a light bulb above their head slowly began to emit the slightest glimmer of lumination.
I'll get to the bottom of this, and if I don't, perhaps a job for English_Bloke ?
