I thought about not writing this here seeing as I thought, "oohh it won't happen again".. Just in case any of you know what the problem might be, it'll be good to know what it is.

Anyhoo. Lately my PC has been restarting by itself, right before it does a blue screen appears, but doesn't stay long enough to read what is on the screen. It's there for literally half a second, then it restarts. Then when it's all loaded and in Windows, it says it has encountered a "serious" error..! And takes me to this site:

http://oca.microsoft.com/en/Response.asp?SID=77

I haven't installed a driver recently.. well, there was the webcam - which isn't for XP - so maybe that's the problem. :s

Also, you know when you turn on the computer, you get the black screen, white writing loading before it loads up Windows - what's that called?!
Today it said this:
CMOS Settings Wrong
CMOS Memory Size Wrong
Press F1 to Run SETUP
Press F2 to load default values and continue.

I pressed F2 for a while, still, Windows wouldn't load. That blue screen kept appearing. Then restarting.
Eventually I pressed F1, changed "only" the time, and Windows loaded.
I dare not touch the settings in case it messes anything up!

So, it's been a little unwell today..

Anybody know what the problem might be? It would be much appreciated as always! =D
Thanks.

The CMOS chip is what stores your BIOS settings. It is quite bizarre to be getting CMOS errors from Windows crashes - BIOS is practically hardware, which implies it may be hardware failure that's causing this problem. That could well include something as simple as the CMOS battery (there is a disc-shaped battery clipped to your motherboard, it might need replacing, although none of mine have died yet) or something as costly as the memory or the motherboard. I'm not entirely sure how RAM problems can cause CMOS corruption though.

Another possibility is that a virus is causing your system crashes and is maliciously attempting to overwrite the CMOS data. If you have a virus scanner, I'd suggest running it. If you don't, I'd suggest getting one!

Have you done a Virus check recently for Welchia, MSblast or the Sobig virus as they all cause these sort of problems, The cmos thingy is strange though, how many ram slots do you have taken up, if you have more than one then try taking the rest out and seeing if that makes any differance, have you changed any major componants recently as windows XP does not like that. you may also have a faulty motherboard.

Yes. Only until it needs restarting or restarts by itself. It plays up again.
