My current one (this one I'm using) is only 20Gb's, and could quieten out the sound of a bus driving over your head.

I know nothing of HDD technology, what makes them quiet blah blah, so your help is appreciated.
Danke.

I just got myself a Maxtor DiamondMax +9 and it's literally silent. Much better than my D740X.

Good speeds as well. 8mb cache.

I've had two Seagate's and a Western Digital crap out on me in the last 18 months. I've got all Maxtor now - 270GB worth.

Seagate offer an acceptably quick hard disk that makes no noise and will never ever break, for very little money at all. That is about all I can say - I've got one, and I plan on getting at least one more in the near future.

Naa. I had a Maxtor before my Samsung before my Seagate (arrived today, and it was too whiny for me.

Get a maxtor i think they all have fluid bearings. Its very quiet.

Well, the processor fan certainly covers up any noise it makes.

We should work for them. We really should.

I say we offer a staging of that scenario to Seagate immediately.
And demand lots of money. Lots and lots of money.
Muahahaha, mexcellent.
