I want to do a course on either Film And Media or Journalism but the best Uni I've found that does it in Scotland (where i live funilly enough) is Stirling Uni. I bet that there are some really good English Unis though. Do any of you know of a good uni that does these courses?

Aswell as that I would like to ask what people prefer. Living at home, campus life or off campus life? Which is the best.

Stick in those two at Stirling and you only need one more. Stirling is really good believe me. You need an A and three B's to get into the course (that's at Scottish Higher not sure about England) and since they have tons of applicants and only 20 they normally only let in peeps who get like at least 3 A's and have a passion for it.

Portsmouth - Film studies and creative arts (you choose 2-3 classes from a list including creative writing and video production etc).

Bournemouth - Scriptwriting for film and television

Luton - Scriptwriting

There my three choices so far...need three more

Don't be put off applying somewhere with a small number of places if it's somewhere you really want to go to, after all if you want it badly it's worth trying for.

Really Cookie? What course you doing? I want to do Film And Media or Journalism but each course only has like 20 places:S Not exactly huge but it is the best place in Scotland to do it. I am just trying to find another place instead in case I don't get in to Stirling because right now my 3rd choice after those two courses is at Napier in Edinburgh which I don't like. After that is this course at Aberdeen but although it's the best of the unis it's course on film and media is about like it's history and the degree can't be applied to any job except teacher of the subject...POINTLESS. Finally is Tellford College but they don't do the courses I want to degree level. I need more options people heh.

My advice would be to first decide where you'd actually want to live if you went to an English Uni. Somewhere might have the best Uni for your course but if you don't like the city/town then it'll be a long three years. Ultimately you have to be happy where you are otherwise, even with the best lecturers in the world, you'll not do well. It sounds stupid, but many people do just go to a University because of it's reputation and give little to no thought as to whether they'll be happy.

Decide where you like in England, find the Universities in those areas, go to the open days and have a good look around - don't just rely on the stuff they send you to get an idea of what it is like.

As for living at home or living away from home, well I think it depends on what kind of person you are and what you really enjoy ?

Do you seriously enjoy going out to clubs/pubs and drinking, or do you like other things ? I know from my work this year at the enrollment and freshers week that if you don't enjoy that kind of lifestyle it can make it a little hard to get to know people. Not always, but it's the way most people meet.

Again, you need to give it serious thought because the wrong decision means, at best, an impromptu year out, at worst the most miserable three years of your life.
