Recently upgraded my computer (thanks for all the help guys) and want to finish it off buy upgrading the graphics card too.

Got an asus motherboard running and athlon 2600+, with 512 mb ram. And basically want a graphics card to match the increased performance!

I really don't want to spend excessively and i would put my budget at about 130-140 quid, maybe a tenner or so more for a great deal.

Been having a look about but not sure what to go for.

I saw the GEforce 5600 256 mb ram, agp 8 card which looked good.

any thoughts?

thanks

ashley

Due to some driver issues Nvidia FX cards are very bad at Direct X 9 Games:

If you can wait I'd get a Radeon 9600 XT:

I found a Asus ATI Radeon 9600XT/TVD 128MB for £165.15 inc VAT at overclockers.co.uk and an Asus ATI Radeon 9600SE/TD 128MB for £94.35 inc VAT.

I'd go for the Radeon.

It simply outscores the GeForce on all the tests.

Get a Radeon 9600 pro. More powerful. Go here for reasons why.

It was a very similar discussion.

Don't buy from Ebuyer if you can help it. The Sapphire 9600 Pro is cheaper from overclockers.co.uk, for a start.

Don't get tempted by the Tyan 9600 Pro either :O[]
