I saw the new episode of the Simpsons tonight and just like Corrie about a week ago they had their first gay kiss in it! In this episode they made Homer live with two homosexuals while his marriage was going through a bit of a rough phase. This ends up with Homer getting a snog by one of the guys before he makes up with Marge. I have nothing against homosexuals or anything like that but just thought it was worth mentioning. This is in no way a dig at homosexuals so nobody reply by saying things like "So what if they kiss? Do you have a problem with it?" or anything like this. I just thought it was worth mentioning due to how abstract and new it was compared to most of The Simpsons's episodes.

That episode, along with most of the new ones, sucked. And that's not a gay joke.

It was one of the better of the new episodes, certainly not up to the old standard though.

Damn you new writers

I reckon it was a good episode; simply because I can't expect them to keep the highest standard the kept for the past 10 years.

Watching it, and comparing it to episodes of old just makes it less bearable to watch.

The newer series are easily the better ones. The writing is more subtle and subversive, not just "Homer says *doh* and then falls over"

Missed this one, which is annoying because I've seen all the others about a million times.

The new episodes are still occasionally funny. But it just seems like the new writers haven't really got a proper grasp on the characters, Marge for example has totally changed over the past few years.

It's nowhere near as well written as it was before, the show used to work on so many different levels and it was always funny. These days it seems like they've run out of ideas and would rather put rude jokes in that really don't suit the characters.

Different strokes for different folks I guess.

With regards the newer episode - they're definetly picking up after a big dip. Doubt they'll ever get back to the huge peak around the Who Shot Mr. Burns? period, but nowhere near as poor as they got a year or two back. Coinsidence that things are picking up around the time MG stopped splitting his time with Futurama? Probably.
