I am the H& (hand) and I've come to tell you about the new Nintendo GameCube games (and DVD) console which is due to hit the shelves (out of shear frustration) around March 2002, so you have a year to save up for the new piece of goodness!

You see, there are many Playstation owners - yes? Yes. Of course there are, and about 6million of them dwell in the United Kingdom. How many Playstation owners in the UK own the UK Final Fantasy 9 game? Around 300,000 - just 5%! How many Final fantasy 9 games were actually sold by retailers? About 60,000 so far…

Hmmm, sussed it yet? Piracy - it's a United Kingdom of piracy and unfortunately the pirates are helping to spin the gaming industry out of control and into turmoil. So what does this have to do with GameCube? Can you guess?

Well, believe it or not, you can in fact get Dreamcast mod chips, PSX mod chips and even PS2 mod chips. And we all know what they do, right? The problem is, Dreamcast games can be copied - Playstation 2 games can be copied, and PSX games are mostly all copied. Why have there hardly ever been any cases of piracy with Nintendo in the past? You can't copy cartridges can you (we'll ignore that PC connection device...).

GameCube, as well as being one of the most powerful consoles to hit the stores and land in your living rooms, will be completely pirate proof - the games will be published and sold in 'larger than Mini-Disc discs' and will be copy proof, hopefully.

Now, while this may deter pirates from buying the consoles, it will also ensure quality (no copies being leaked all over the place) and will help the games industry move on and help games companies make a profit again - they deserve it after all they have given us. So, with only original games circulating around, the games sales will go up, people will start seeing the GC at the top of the charts and they WILL take notice - they will forget the looks, they'll forgive the awkward looking pad design and they will trade there old machine in for a GameCube!

Possibly.

Then there's the 'XBox'. Let's forget that. Maybe they'll change their minds about entering the market.

Ok, so the GC - it'll be able to link-up with the Game Boy Advance - superb stuff, and will also house 4 control ports - so you won't have to fork out a further 10% of your consoles' worth of money on a multi tap. Nice. The games may seem to be sequels - but I believe Nintendo will still treat it's consumers with a shred of decency they/we deserve. The GameCube will have another Mario title, and it will have another Zelda game. What's that - PS2 owners criticising? Nintendo 64 owners - you weren't annoyed when Zelda and Mario were announced for the 64 were you? They'd already been on the previous two Nintendo consoles. If it ain't broke...

Then there will be DVD technology and Internet access, leading to online gaming. Just think - play Mario Kart 128 against the Japanese, the Yankees and even the French! I can't wait.

The power. Yes, ok - so the GameCube may not boasts the stats of the X-Box, but then the PS2 has 50% more processing ‘umph’ then the Dreamcast. I don't see anything equal to Shenmue yet - do you? So forget the stats, forget the number of bits and prepare yourself for one of the most amazing consoles you'll ever own.

Oh yeah - the launch will actually go smoothly unlike a certain other console. Quality – not quantity all the way.

So while Playstation 2 owners are laughing at Dreamcast owners because their console has been 'ceased', and while Dreamcast owners are throwing Shenmue and MSR in the PS2 owners' faces, there will be a proper Next Generation battle going on, and I have every confidence the GameCube will not let me down!

Cheers

Talk to the H&

(oh yeah, and the GBA – well that can’t fail with no competition…)

So, is anyone going to pre-order their Cubes? It won't be a childs toy - you know that there'll be decent games on it, with MGS2 and all the Nintendo and maybe some Sega games also!

Notice how all the developers and publishers are now not signing up with anyone exclusively? In other words - the same games will be on the different formats. To spread the risk perhaps?

GameCube must be the most lucrative console for gaming companies though - no copied games...

I can see Nintendo getting back the lionshare of the market to be honest. Then the whole of time will loop back to 1982 and the Nes will be reborn, and everything will be the same but Bill Murray will have to make it right. Or not.

GameCube!!

"now company's are losing alot of money they will need to join up with other companies just to survive look at how Sega has become a major games company into a softare company instead."

So maybe Nintendo are a saviour for keeping piracy at bay? Sniper - what are you on about?
