It seems that from time to time people will post a poem but it is awkward to find somewhere to post it. Life or General seem to be the two forums people favour so I think it would be a good idea to have a thread just for submitting poems to so that people who are interested in reading poetry or submitting there own have a thread in which to do so instead of trawling through the backlogs of posts.

Feel free to submit anything of a poetical nature to this thread as well as comments on people's writing.

Here is something a little more serious I just composed, I call it "Thankful"

The darkness wrapped around my throat
Choking the life from me
A thousand eyes this twilight has
Each one unwilling to see
It’s life, I know, this inherent urge
To look after number one
Uncaring about our fellow man
So what if they’ve lost or won?
Carefully now I softly tread
Along the edge of a knife
And as I lay down in my bed
I’m still thankful for this life.

My mates said my poems were a bit depressive so I tried something a little more upbeat.

I witness your blonde locks blowing in the breeze
I hear your soft Siren’s call
You are my beautiful blue-eyed temptress
To whose knee’s I would gladly fall.
When I think it is only of you
When I close my eyes, you’re all I see
You’re an incomparable elegant goddess
And your love shall set me free.

Liked the depressing ones more. Then again I am a pessimist. No, people are just too damned lazy and pathetic to read and comment. Not all of them (in fact some are excellent at commenting), but a large number. I'm telling you, enter some of this stuff into competitions, its gold.

I dont know where to find a competition to enter my stuff into.

I was hoping Black Glove would contribute to this thread - his poems are excellent.
