So with this in mind, I propose this idea. A lot of people like to have a game with interesting FMV playing after completing certain parts of the game or even after some event has occurred. The problem is, there are also a lot of people who don't like to have interesting FMV playing after completing certain parts of the game or even after some event has occurred.
Some of these people also like to have music playing throughout the game, usually changing with the mood of the game. There are others, though, that hate having music in a game and just prefer the spot effects making the game more intense by not having music there at all.
My friend tells me that he likes seeing cut scenes which remind him of bits in a film, with a proper theme song or even an MTV style video moment. Another friend disagrees, and says that they'd rather have their gameplay uninterrupted.
I have even heard that some people like to have speech from the characters in the game they are playing while others prefer to cut out the annoying chatter and play with subtitles instead, especially where a voice actor badly imperonates another country's accent.
So what can we do about it? (you were wondering, perhaps, when I would actually get to the point?) Well, when you reach the traditional start screen of a game, the usual menus appear. Most of the time you will find an option to turn up or down the volume, pick control methods or even, in some cases, choose a character or piece of music. My plan, then, is to have a much more comprehensive menu system which lets you turn on and off the cut-scenes, mood music, general FMV and game speech. It could also go so far as to ask whether you would like to play the game as an arcade game or more of a simulator (I know, a few driving games already do this, but not enough by far and certainly not any other genre)
Not enough games have an options list that would be proud to call itself a menu and this is a pity, because with the added options games could last a whole lot longer and be far more tuned to the way people want them to be. At least then you could please most of the people most of the time, even if you couldn't please them all.
Often no even giving you the option to turn the music off!
I hope there are lots of options with the GBA games, I mean think about it they don't really have a super reputation of being full of options, I haven't played every GBA game, obviously but none of them have the options that most console games boast. I just think that with 32-bitsa the GBA could use up maybe one or two to give us a load of options, and I know it is up to the develooper but maybe they can take a page from the MGS2 book and build a game around the console, it seems to be paying off so far especially with the reports of MGS2 in Japan and even across Europe!

Thats an option! ... I knew there was something I kept forgetting to turn off!

good call... but... What sort of options do you think are missing from PC games?
As a primarily PC game player, that often shifts over to console playing, I've often been a touch miffed at the lack of avlible options...
Even the basic options like music on/off are removed... which forces you to listen to the in game tracks...
