I need some good quality (preferably 5.1 surround sound) headphones, and a USB gamepad. Anyone reccomend any?
I'm willing to fork out a fair bit for the headphones if they are worth it, but I don't want to spend too much on a gamepad, just something that's decent enough for racing/football games on the pc.

Well.. arguably if you were to get headphones and speakers of the same sound quality, frequency response and all that technical sound jargon, the headphones would be better as the acoustics of the room will not affect the sound, and you'll hear things as they were intended.
With the exception of certain music, such as Drum'n'Bass, which is engineered to cope with the acoustics of a club.

That kinda defeats the purpose of headphones doesn't it?
Of course I'd rather speakers, but it's not an option with a semi-detatched paper thin walled house with a gamer who likes to play in the very early hours of the morning.

I know what you mean, headphones are nice enough. Ive got a very good old set, good acoustics etc but they hurt like hell after an hour or so. So maybe i should get some new ones but im off to university in september and i think i plan to cut down on niternet gaming and step up on socialising and getting rather tipsy.
