my number 2 when pressed with shift is my @ sign and my @ sign is whats supposed to be on my number 2 any ideas

It would have been nice if you could have at least mentioned what operating system you were using.

I think in future I'm going to answer all questions from people who don't mention their OS as if they were using KDE.

Try going to ...

Start -> Control Panel -> Regional

... and making sure everything is set to 'UK English' or, preferably, 'British'. As the other guy said, it's probably set to 'US English'.

Control Panel -> Keyboard

Have a look in there - And change the keyboard layout to "English".

Its set to american at the moment.
