"MG Rover claim to have broken the world record for fastest estate car.

A souped-up version of the acclaimed ZT-T reached an astonishing 225.6 MPH on the salt flats of Utah, America last month.

Design director Peter Stevens, of McLaren Formula 1 fame, decided to build a 200 MPH estate derived from the forthcoming MG ZT-T V8.

He said: "This is about testing vehicles to their limits in some of the most extreme conditions in the world.

"Not only are we pleased with the acievement, this form ofextreme testing has demonstrated the capability of future developments."'"

Well I'm impressed. I like MG and it's good to see the only big British car company left has still got talent and ambition.

I was at the salt flats only 6-7 weeks ago. Less traction than tarmac. Impressive sight mind.

I like the Xpower or what ever it is called. The new sports car they have coming out soon. They ended up with it when they bought over a small Italian company called Qvale. It looks fantastic.

I'm not overly keen on MG's, but the ZR and TF are quite nice.

They normal convertibles are not that fast, but they always handled nicely. It's not all about speed ya'know.

For some reason, seeing as I associate estate cars and antique dealers, I have this vision of Lovejoy drag racing. With a grandfather clock in the boot.

Coffee time!!!

According to my brother (a car fanatic) MG's weren't actually that fast in comparison to other manufacturers on the market.

I love MG's I have always wanted to cruise around and be the foxy chick with a sexy car..*grrrrowl* But mark said they look good but *so and so* is better
