Plans to let a metal fan die on stage in assisted suicide, could lead to 15 years in prison for band. Views?

How long did it take you to think of the title monky man?

Any way I too am all for the ending of suffering of pain but not in front of a crowd like that. .

I would seriously hate to watch someone die, I can't think of much else that I would rather not see at a concert.

I too believe that if he wants to end pain and suffering, fair enough but I would hate to see it for myself.

Fair enough, but you've got to accept that lots of metallers are wierd people (I say as a metal fan, so don't tell me I'm stupid and know nothing about metal). They shout and cheer, but for the person who kills himself it's a happy time - he can see a way out and wants to take it.

If they put up a warning that this event was a possibility, I really cannot see what's wrong with it. Death is, ironically, a fact of life. In modern society views on it are still heavily influenced by an old and fragile religious argument. Some metal fans take the music as far as to be a religion and most will either believe in an afterlife and will have accepted that, and will think he's off to a better/worse place, or just won't believe in anything. So will not trouble them. I seem to have left the original subject, but what I'm trying to put accross is that a lot of metallers would be happy enough to attend such a concert. And if warnings were made clear a time before the show, the people who won't like it won't go. It ends one man's suffering and no price to anyone else. Anyone who suggest jail time for the band is clearly an idiot with no grasp on feelings.

Did that make sense? I seem to be putting too much punctuation in things lately..

That's what bugs me. It's a concert full of shouting and cheering. then someone comes on and kills commits suicide. Then back to the shouting and cheering. Although I respect both side of the argument on this one, that would totally ruin my concert-going experience. Why can't he just get mangled in the crush like eveyone else?

I wouldn't go so far as to say they're 'good', but they're listento-able.

And yeah, the fan has the right to take his own life, despite what any silly laws say, and if he wants to do it at a metal concert, and the band are happy with that, why not? If he wants to die at a place while he's still enjoying himself I can think of no argument against it.

If he's suffering and wants to go before the suffering gets too much, then it's entirely his choice. From what the article says, it's not like they're going to help him, just giving him the chance. If he didn't get to do it a concert he'd only do it at home anyway. He just wants to go out with a bang, so to speak. The way the law treats this issue is inhumane if they expect people to follow them.

There should be a warning though, if you turn up expecting some loud music and get some guy killing himself then it could be slightly traumatising.

15 years in jail for letting a man end his suffering is rediculous. No one lives forever anyway, and if prolonged, his life would have been full of pain and suffering.

MORE metal than Airheads??
.. you jest! ;)

it's a tricky one, i believe he should be allowed the right to die, but i'm not sure about doing it as part of a rock show. There would HAVE to be warnings or there could be some fairly traumatised audience members that night...

I suppose if they did get sent down they could perform rock concerts in jail. A bit like in Airheads, but even more metal.
