Plans to let a metal fan die on stage in assisted suicide, could lead to 15 years in prison for band. Views?
Any way I too am all for the ending of suffering of pain but not in front of a crowd like that.
I too believe that if he wants to end pain and suffering, fair enough but I would hate to see it for myself.
If they put up a warning that this event was a possibility, I really cannot see what's wrong with it. Death is, ironically, a fact of life. In modern society views on it are still heavily influenced by an old and fragile religious argument. Some metal fans take the music as far as to be a religion and most will either believe in an afterlife and will have accepted that, and will think he's off to a better/worse place, or just won't believe in anything. So will not trouble them. I seem to have left the original subject, but what I'm trying to put accross is that a lot of metallers would be happy enough to attend such a concert. And if warnings were made clear a time before the show, the people who won't like it won't go. It ends one man's suffering and no price to anyone else. Anyone who suggest jail time for the band is clearly an idiot with no grasp on feelings.
Did that make sense? I seem to be putting too much punctuation in things lately..
> The Darkness are a good band. Shut your filthy mouth.
I wouldn't go so far as to say they're 'good', but they're listento-able.
And yeah, the fan has the right to take his own life, despite what any silly laws say, and if he wants to do it at a metal concert, and the band are happy with that, why not? If he wants to die at a place while he's still enjoying himself I can think of no argument against it.
If he's suffering and wants to go before the suffering gets too much, then it's entirely his choice. From what the article says, it's not like they're going to help him, just giving him the chance. If he didn't get to do it a concert he'd only do it at home anyway. He just wants to go out with a bang, so to speak. The way the law treats this issue is inhumane if they expect people to follow them.
There should be a warning though, if you turn up expecting some loud music and get some guy killing himself then it could be slightly traumatising.
15 years in jail for letting a man end his suffering is rediculous. No one lives forever anyway, and if prolonged, his life would have been full of pain and suffering.

The Darkness are a good band. Shut your filthy mouth.
> I suppose if they did get sent down they could perform rock concerts
> in jail. A bit like in Airheads, but even more metal.
MORE metal than Airheads??
.. you jest! ;)
it's a tricky one, i believe he should be allowed the right to die, but i'm not sure about doing it as part of a rock show. There would HAVE to be warnings or there could be some fairly traumatised audience members that night...
