The X-Box has not got a chance of failing because of one reason, and that is it is being designed by the most successful company in the world.
These masterminds have created such on-line worlds like msn and the zone. The zone... the best place to play on-line games on the web!! People who made the great zone.com are obviously no slouches when it comes down to web design so when (not if) the time comes for the x-box going on-line, we will have these people designing the on-line world and I back them 100% that they will create something that is one of a kind.
Microsoft are no slouches when it comes to games, they created, in my opinion, one of the greatest games of all time and that is the Age Of Empires series. This is a fantastic game on its own without looking at the on-line compatabilities. The only bad part is that damn lag but with the x-box, lag will be a thing of the past so this might persuade registered zone members who get sick of the lag to purchase the x-box just for this feature alone.
They have also created great games such as crimson skies, motorcross madness and midtown madness.
I wouldnt be surprised to see the introduction of a windows style user system being introduced where you will be able to word process and maybe create web sites using microsofts frontpage which I have used in the past and will use again in the future.
This, like it or not, will be the future for consoles turning them into a cross between consoles and PC's and I for one couldnt be happier. Imagine a portable PC with great games like Age of Empires with top class graphics.
Ahhhhh the graphics :). To the best of my knowledge, I believe that nVIDIA are providing the graphics card in the form of their dominant GeFORCE 2. I am lucky enough to have this chipset in my computer and I have to say that I have never seen graphics like it, especially on games such as Kingpin: Life of Crime and Vampire: The Masquerade - Redemption the graphics are quite overwhelming.
After reading this I think you will agree that the x-box failing is highly unlikely.

It probably will because of a lack of experience in the console market. Nintendo has been around for a long time and the GameCube's launch will probably not fail.
You can't expect Microsoft to splash money to make a powerful games machine and then muck up the launch.
Microsoft is a very rich Technology company, the most powerful i think but even they are having troubles with making it a suitable games machine.
But they are up against Nintendo and Sony in the end the what counts is what games will be available then.
