Blair told in advance that the war would increase the threat of an al-Qaida attack, and that Iraq could not nuke the UK. Although for some reason he apparently didn't "sex up" the dossier. Maybe they thought, "Well, if they *could* launch WMD, they could probably do it in 45 mins".

Exactly the point. Now it seems that pro-war believers no longer have the WMD excuse to justify the question - whether from Iraq or al-Qaida based there.

What do they have left then? "The Iraqis are better off". Sure. And they're even grateful, too! In fact, we have the scars to prove it! There are still skirmishes every day resulting in death, and the citizens are hardly living in luxury. In fact, most don't have basic facilities like clean water and electricity.

But hey! They aren't under Saddam any more. Kind of like the "pig satisfied/Socrates dissatisfied" question.

The 45 minute thing apparantly referred to how long it would take Iraq to deploy WMDs on a battlefield.

Blair and co just negrelcted to mention that, allowing everyone to believe it was the time for Iraq to attack us.
And happened to give the claim prominance without ever stating precisely what they could do in 45 minutes.

Also, the first drafts of the covering letter for the fateful dossier explained that there was no threat of Iraq using WMDs against us, and that the only threat was of WMDs getting into terrorist hands.

It seems the editing out of this is the exact point where the government began to dupe the public, leading people to believe there was a direct threat from Iraq.

And yes, the experts he had evaluate the situation confirmed that there was a greater threat of WMDs getting into terrorist hands if we went to war than there would have been otherwise.

Which begs the question, Why did we go in?
