Bitter Sweet Symphony by The Verve
in my top five bands.
You'll recognise quite a few of the songs when you here them.
"Sonnet", "lucky man", "drug's don't work" was HUGE, "bittersweet". Richard ashcroft is a very talented lyricist, some of his solo stuff is a bit hit and miss but "song for the lovers" was good. Also of note: Oasis' "Cast no shadow" of "morning Glory" was a tribute to the verve and has a good verve sound to it, one of the hidden gems of the album imho.
Get that song now and be happy.

er the verve were like one of the biggest bands in 90's indie, everyone knows bittersweet, Urban Hymns is a brilliant album, Lucky man is probably the best.
