urban hymns was hvery big top album.

in my top five bands.

You'll recognise quite a few of the songs when you here them.

"Sonnet", "lucky man", "drug's don't work" was HUGE, "bittersweet". Richard ashcroft is a very talented lyricist, some of his solo stuff is a bit hit and miss but "song for the lovers" was good. Also of note: Oasis' "Cast no shadow" of "morning Glory" was a tribute to the verve and has a good verve sound to it, one of the hidden gems of the album imho.

I didn't know the Verve were a big band, I thought they were a one hit wonder. Might have to buy their album/s.

er the verve were like one of the biggest bands in 90's indie, everyone knows bittersweet, Urban Hymns is a brilliant album, Lucky man is probably the best.

Oh and whats wrong with R&B? Its better than 90% of the pop bull sheet released these days.
