'Hard Boiled' and 'A Better Tomorrow' on DVD but having never seen them before I was wondering if anyone could give their personal review for both products...

I picked up a Cantonese DTS 5.1 version of Hard Boiled with English Subtitles and 2.0 Stereo Cantonese + English Dubbed A Better Tomorrow with English Subtitles. I have read a lot about both and they sound like truly kick ass films!

Any extra reviews or opinions would be appreciated, cheers!

Truely excellent films.

Watch them both with subtitles and you will be blown away. Nothing like classic Woo.

You should also check out 'The Killer' and 'Bullet in the Head'.

Hard Boiled is fantastic. Starts as a typical HK honour / friendship / betrayal flick, but ends up something totally different. The 10 minute long gunfight sequence is one of the best I've ever seen.

Extremely violent flick.

I've got both, and they do indeed kick ass, though I haven't seen them for quite a long time now so can't give much in the way of a review.
If you like them it's also worth picking up The Killer, another John Woo/Chow Yun-Fat actioner (it's now only £7.99 from hongkonglegends.co.uk).

Each film has all the usual John Woo themes, plus plenty of crazy gunfire, though the 80's fashions worn by the characters does show the films age. But apart from the naff suits, they're good action films.

Is Hard Boiled the John Woo one?

If so then it's supposed to be amazing.
