The defensive side of the game is absolutely ridiculous. Starting from the moment they lose the ball, due to crappy final pass, or mediocre midfielding, they can't get it back until someone has made a scuffed cross or taken a shot. Their utter inability to cut out passing play will soon enough be picked up on by a team able to move the ball about well, and england will get flogged like wet dogs.

Jesus Christ, Macedonia looked like Holland reborn on Saturday, with me eventually mentally praying that certain players of theirs weren't passed to, because their every touch created problems.

It's time England learned to keep the ball in midfield better, pass better, and by God learn to win it in midfield, and not rely on the defenders always being in just the right position to save the day.

I mean, England are ranked 8th in the world, making them one of the elite footballing nations. Macedonia are 87th. Below Estonia, below Guatemala, Haiti and Cyprus. Do you think people should be concerned if England have to play Haiti? They shouldn't, but I've no doubt they likely would do.

No more hoofing from midfield, no more slack passing and giving the ball away every third pass, no more poor closing down and allowing the opposition to pass it about as though playing a pub team and no more fanciful defending leading to elementary errors.

It's about time England started playing like the team they are SUPPOSED to be, one of the finest in world football.

We may have the result we needed but we shouldn't actually feel like we won the game. England are flat and very boring to watch. In their last game I fell asleep within 10 minutes of the game starting and missed the first goal. We do not create enough chances and then waste to many of them when we have them. If it wasn't for penalties recently how many games would we have drawn / lost.

How do you feel when your favourite team wins a game? Excited, upbeat, on top of the world?

When England manage to win I just tend to think - thank god we managed to get through that.

Everyone has different ideas on what the team needs but a swift kick up the backside may well be a starting point.

Woe is me, missing some of our best players and with a 17 year old up front England only won in a hostile environment against some rubbish team.

Lampard was trying to look good and fell flat on his face, Campbell kept having to cover for Cole and wasn't up to the job, Beckham had to keep drifting into the centre without Gerrard or Scholes to drive the midfield and Rooney was a waste of an 11th man. But we still won. Why is everyone still so negative?

What i found funny was that on Saturday i had been to see Wednesday play at home to Tranmere, which i was looking forward to seeing far more than England, and what was even more funny is that before the Wednesday game i was anticipating a much better game of football at Hillsborough than i was when i got home to see England. Turned out to be justified too.

England are just boring to watch under Sven. Course his record as England manager is great, cant argue there, but the team seem so flat, and that shouldnt be for a team thats got so much talent in. When we play things never seem to flow, our goals are hardly ever magical to watch like other teams. The point that its the results that count might be true, and nothing pleases me more than England winning, but it would be nice to do it in style sometimes. Christ...we are the Liverpool of Internation Teams!
