Have I spelt that right?! What do you guys think causes it? It's one of those things that intrigues me, sometimes when I get it it lasts for ages! I've heard lots of reasons from epilepsy in temperal lobe to past life memories...

Ahh, but everything is just a theory.
There are no scientific theories that have been proven beyond all shadow of a doubt. That's impossible.

but science hasn't really provided the answer...scientists don't really know, its just a theorey. There is a lot about the brain that they don't know and they've not got the technology yet to find out.

There is a theory that its caused by a malfunction in the brain, where the brain simultaneously records what you are seeing in your long and short term memory, tricking you into believing that you've experienced the same experience twice.

I dunno though

I get that occassionally, always wondered about it, and it's nice to know that, as usually the case, science provides the answer.

No I don't think i'm screwed up yet either..I don't get it loads but the one time it was quite strong..it was in a club and suddenly my friend said something that i recognised and thought i'd been there before. I looked round and saw a group of lads which I was de ja vu aswell, I immediately looked away and thought i'd better think of something else this is weird!

I heard on a radio program about how it's caused by a reaction in the brain related to recalling a similar memory to a present situation.

But people who get major deja-vu have something screwed up in their head, which makes the concerned reaction happen all the time.
That reaction causes the feeling of deja-vu.

I get it fairly often, and when I do it's usually quite strong.
I don't think I have a fully fledged funked up head though :^)

Once I had it go on for quite long (as opposed to just a quick flash type recognition)that I had to try and think of something else to stop it! freaky

I have heard it is where you see something, but your brain doesn’t register it until a few seconds later…so it’s like you’re re-living it.
