Can't help but feel times are changing, (ignoring chelsea for once! lol) I think that madrids position as the worlds best club are edging towards an end, People have been saying for sometime now that real madrids defence is weak, now its a shambles. They have lost there long standing captain and long term spain international Hierro, and more importantly Makalele. Zidane and Helguera have already stated there disgust at this deal and this may well lead to zidane not having the ability to roam he was formerly allowed, and also does not bode well for the protection of the defence.
During the summer real failed to buy in defenders and this combined with makalele's departure could be severely detrimental to them remaining the worlds best club. Pavon looks a tidy litttle defender but they still lack substance in defence and have announced Helguera is out for 2-4 weeks. There midfield is hugely classy but again it is aging and the gems of the midfield are on the wrong side of thirty. All though Madrid will probably always be one of the worlds biggest teams the gap appears to be falling, and we could soon see a far more open situation at the top of european football with 4 or 5 top clubs all competing at roughly the same level. Could be an interesting few years at the top of european football.

oh my god. thank you for concrete evidence!

you obviously no incredibly little about football.er i knew all about him at celta vigo! you are outrageously poorly informed he is a regular for france! and zidane absolutely loves him, he was the easily one of the most popular players at real madrid, when he went on strike, and then came back so real would speak to chelsea, Zidane and raul clapped him as he came onto the pitch, if you had spoken to anyone before the move, who knows anything about football in the european leagues they would tell you he is in the top 3 or 4 def mids in the world.

You are incredibly badly informed:

Zidane and helguera say they are annoyed makalele has left

Then Wenger and viera say "makalele signing could make chelsea champions" and you make a stupid comment like "who had heard of makalele?" everyone in football bar you i imagine!

no, i believe viera is just as good if not better, i think you have a very one dimensional view on the world of football! and quite a limited one at that.

If you must know i think the two best players in the league at the mo, are at arsenal, Viera and Henry. Had maka gone to juventus or roma, i would have made the same statement, I am well informed On pretty much all europes top leaguesand always pay attention to results, transfers and general infomation at most clubs.

Makalele was a huge factor at real, and when they were with out him last season they invariably lost or drew, he was not the be all and end all, and not as important as zidane but they are severely weakened with out hierro and him.

YES BUT MAN U SPENT YEARS to win the title eventually the Treble with HOME GROWN players i have to admit that but look at chelski?!
Oh and it took a few years for us to eventually be double winners/fa cup winners/ champs league regulars, we hardly spent 100million worth of players to get up to that level.

Lol, you really are jealous, aren't you mate. Get used to it, chelsea bought quality players. Makelele is one of the best in the world, as is crespo, mutu, duff etc. You can't deny it, we've bought some amazing players.

yes (he says with grin on face), Makalele only due to the fact Hierro was an expected loss, maka was last minute and they didn't have a chance to replace him, not replacing hierro was sheer folly.

By not about chelsea i meant their future prospects, and was trying to point out i was no painting a vision of chelsea as there replacements!

ER i'm not refering to makalele directly, I'm talking madrid in general, they are getting increasingly weaker. Helguera will be gone soon, hierro has already left, zidan is retiring in less than 2 years, figo hasn't set a date but can't be that much further. Makalele is a huge loss to madrid everyone knows that, especially as they haven't got a replacement, but ignoring where maka went it is the loss of a world class defensive midfielder (ignoring COMPLETELY his destination) that leaves madrid more frail than before. they spent a very unnecessary 25 million on Beckham, who really wasn't needed, and would have been much better spent taking chivu and samuel to the barnebeu.
Arguably Makalele was beyond there control but they should had they taken the obvious transfers in the summer to buy central pairing they need they would have had less of a problem as they could have used helguera as a stop gap measure till the transfer window reopens. Davids is the obvious target for Xmas spending, 5 mill will probably do it, as he'll only have 5-6 months left on his contract, although the wrongside of thirty they will still have nearly about 9 mill profit on makalele. which can be used properly, will help keep them strong, but as i said these will be telling times at the barnebeu.
