Manchester United have renegotiated the transfer of David Beckham to Real Madrid so that they receive £11million of the transfer fee in a lump sum.

The Premiership champions were set to receive £12m of the fee in equal instalments over four years, but have wavered £1m of the fee in order to receive it instantly.

Real have already forked out £5m of the £25m fee for the England captain, while the rest of the deal will be dependent on Real's success in the Champions League.

So why would they do this? Perhaps Fergie is thinking of buying someone in the januray transfer window?

Oops my bad, i had just come out of a game of BF 1942 and i was still seeing Japs on my screen when i typed :p

£11 million is obviously a different kettle of fish altogether, i can understand them wanting that amount of cash sooner if that was possible.

£11M rabid, not £1M

They are losing £1M of the Beckham fee so Real pay quicker.

Probabaly need to it because they need it to pay the £12.25 million fee for Ronaldo in 2 payments.

Naw, Man Utd wouldnt be in the postion of 'we need another £1 million so we can buy Mr X'

With all the millions a club like Utd could muster i doubt a solitary £1 million would make any significant difference to their transfer spending.

I can only imagine it might have something to do with shares or shareholders... im guessing that since Beckham was sold Utd have had a fair few people seel up some of the shares and the £1 million might go some way to help pay those people off without dipping into the clubs transfer funds to do so.

I ofcourse know nothing about shares so if all that i typed is nonsense then forgive me, but it does sound a more feasible option than that of Utd needing £1 million instantly in order to bring in a new player.
