Ahem... Im appliying for uni for 2004 at the moment, and I have the choice of doing either economics combined with environmental sciences or sociology.

Or I can go down a different route altogether and do social work. The head of a certain social services department has already offered me a post for my placement year and thereafter.I have fairly extensive experience in this line of work, its highly satisfying but the pay leaves a lot to be desired.

Economics on the other hand is also my kind of thing as it involves human interaction, and rationality/irrationality and the money is more attraction.

Any advice, personal experiences with the world of careers welcomed...

of those I'd do sociology, but it's entirely your choice and you should let no-one sway you. remember, it's your career, and you'll have to live with your decision for the rest of your life.

no pressure mind .... :)

I'm doing a degree in Economics. Just finished the first year and i found it hard/easy.

Easy in that i got a B1 for Microeconomics but failed Macroeconomics. Mainly becasue i got a bit over confident and decided i didnt need to revise after getting a B for the first one. For the best i think as it taught me that i might have to do some work this year...

Without knowing stuff all about any of the courses, I'd say economics with environmental sciences.

Or just one by it's own, can't you do one rather than a Joint one (I assume this is degrees you're on about ? )
