Oh the reason it wouldb't work was because the graphics card wasnt recognised, ah well it's Microsoft for ya.

You can indeed yes.
I have my control pannel at the classic view and my start menu set to the XP theme, its good, i like it.
Even having more software wouldn't make much of a difference.
I have a cousin who worked in the OS department at Apple.
I'd like to, to be honest, as I've no idea what they're like.
I've used an old one before.
