Yeah, almost all dial-up ISPs do it. I'm just cursing Freeserve in particular because that's who I'm with. At least AOL asks you if you want to stay online. I was downloading 60mb's worth of updates for WindowsXP one day and Freeserve just decided to go 'bye', causing me to lose the 40-45mb that I'd got. Grrr.

It does disconnect you if you're inactive though. But that's started playing up at the moment. ie you can leave it for hours and it says nothing, then you start to look at a site and it says "You have been idle for a while, stay online?"

Yeah, I despise that.

Is it only Freeserve that do that?
I thought almost all dial up people did that, to prevent line hogging.
Bah.

At least AOL don't disconnect you every few hours.

Well whoever's speaking to him can tell him he'll need AIM to talk to me, it's the only thing I have. And that's only because I'm on AOL.
