Its on the front of the mirror, and been on all the news chanels. I got 53 copies of the damn thing this morning, and it makes looking for real mail a real pain in the ass. How do you stop it? Don't open it, or isntall antivirus software. But neither will stop you receiving a million and one every few moments - every hour or so I receive 50 which gets on my nerves. Its impossible to stop it being sent to you, bu easy to not receive it. How?

Easy - Open outlook, "Tools\Message Rules\Mail" and set up a new rule for "If the subject line contains the words" and then add:

Your Details
Thankyou
thankyou
Re: Thank you!

As the list of words, and choose "Delete from server" as the result of the rule.

The way it works is this trains outlook to delete from the server, and never ever download any mail with any of those subject lines. The sobig virus always uses one of those lines! So now it can never clogg up your inbox again!

Admitidly, if somebody sends you a genuine mail titled "Your details" it will be removed...But, as soon as all the nonsence dies down you can easily deactive the rule.

Not perfect, yet Simple - and effective.

I received one suspicious e-mail earlier, but that was it. I'm not stupid enough to open attachments from unrecognised addresses.

If you're getting so many e-mails about it it's probably because someone who has you on their contacts list has the virus.

Strangely I've note received one thing, nor did I get the msblast thing. Still think be prevention is to get a decent virus scan, Norton can be set to intercept emails and scan before download.

Very pleased with the help given by your staff. They explained technical details in an easy way and were patient when providing information to a non expert like me.
