Um, it was ok I suppose, if you take away all of the bad things that happened. But when you look at all the bad things that did happened, it wasn’t all that good.
Here is my camping story (for those of you who are not interested just don’t read this):
Wednesday night: We get a phone call from our friends in London saying that they have forgot to book the campsite, And that they now can’t get thru because it is 9.30PM.
But they had found another one, but this was £20 a night, and there was 5 of us going. So that would have worked out at about £100 a night, £700 for the week.
Which when you look at it, it just is not worth it to sleep in a field.
So for the rest of Wednesday night we are on the internet searching for another place to go. Got to about 12.00AM and just thought it’s pointless searching at this time of night, we will have to put it off for another day or phone first thing tomorrow morning.
Anyways we got thru in the morning and then left at about 10.00AM.
Thursday: In the big car with my brother, dad and my mate. With my mum following behind in the smaller cal. There were 6 of us going so we took two cars, the 7 seater with all the stuff and the boys and the small car with the girls in.
We arrived at Ikea and watched my parents as they went of a boring shopping spree.
Then leave Ikea and arrived at the campsite at about 4.00PM.
We set up 3 tents, collected some fire wood for the camp fire, and lit the BBQ.
Then at about 11.00PM my dad got in a bad mood with my sister and decided to strop off home, so he drove 175 miles back home because he was in a bad mood.
Friday: Me and my mate are in his tent, his new one. There is water patches on the inside, after taking a closer look we realize that one of the main poles in the tent have snapped and that water can now leak in.
After a poor attempt to fix it we just had to face the fact that if it rains we were going to get wet.
We got up and was talking to our family friends and we had all decided to go shopping in the nearby town. Now I’m not too keen on shopping so I wasn’t really looking forward to it, but I went anyway. We got there and my mum said meet back in 2 hours.
We met back in two hours; all’s I had done is walked around a few shops for an hour then went to sit in the park for the other hour. So I was well ready to go home, but no, she said meet back in another hour. So after sitting in the park for an hour all 9 of us met back at this little restaurant for a meal.
My mum and her to best mates (July and Kaz) were all telling us how they had gone into the shop Monsoon and they had go into a huge argument with the manager.
My brother (7) had dropped a tiny amount of water on the floor, the smallest amount, like a raindrop and the manager started tutting. My mum said “why are you tutting, there is no need to, he is 7 and he spilled a small bit of water.”
Manager: “well he shouldn’t even have it in the shop”
Mum: “well ok ill clean it up”
Manager: “Don’t bother the damage is already done”
Mum: “ I’M SORRY WHAT DAMAGE?”
Manager: “The one that little brat has done”
Now my mums friend have come over and a couple of other customers in the store.
There is like 8 of them all arguing with the manager now.
Anyways the manager calls my mum a bad parent, Kaz then says do you even have kids?
Manager says no, that explains it all, bla bla bla.
So my mum and 8 other people had a huge argument in Monsoon and the manager closed the shop and walked out.
Now back to camping.
We got home about 6.00PM, had a BBQ, and I went to go in the showers.
I really wish I didn’t have to, but I was sweaty so I needed to. The showers come out so slow that most of the time it was just dribbling down the wall. And the water was cold unless you use it at like 1.00AM.
So I was standing there Naked washing my hair against the cold wall, for about 40 minuets because that’s how long it took me to get the soap out of my hair.
Went back to camp, sat round a nice big warm fire talking with our mates, which was nice.
Saturday: Decided to go swimming, in this huge leisure centre, slide, Jacuzzi, lazy river, wave machine the lot.
Twas really fun until the worse thing that could happen did happen.
My swimming shorts ripped, from top centre to back centre.
So I was now stuck in the pool with completely ripped swimming shorts, my mum had to get the towel for me to quickly run out and get into.
I’m just glad no one saw.
Anyways, same again, got back to camp, had a shower, BBQ and then sat round a fire.
Sunday: We just went round this huge castle, it was ok, I didn’t really look at all the stuff I was just taking loads of pictures and having a general mess around with the digital camera.
Um got home about 2.00PM and we decided to play cricket, there was us 9 and the two boys who my brother had been playing with, and the German family next to us.
Altogether together there were about 15 of us playing cricket so it was good fun, I got the most runs :)
When we first asked the German kid to play we didn’t know he was German, so when my mum asked him to come and play he ran off to his dad screaming. That cheered me up a bit; luckily his dad could speak some English.
We played for ages, shower, BBQ and fire again.
But I had a huge argument with my mum, which lasted for a while, and then her best friend told my mum to calm down because I was right.
Then my brother was being a sod, so I got into trouble for arguing with him.
So I started sulking and ignoring my mum and brother.
Monday: Went to this place called Canterbury, it was an old place with loads of modern shops like, Game and Curry’s. So I didn’t mind it too much there.
But wow the amount of fit girls there are there, it’s like the town off the fit. I think the whole time I was there, there was only like 5 unfit people.
So that day was ok, until my mate started being an ass and saying that he only buys top of the range stuff, and that all of his stuff is better then mine. (Although it’s not)
So I got annoyed but I didn’t say anything.
On the way back we all stopped at the pub, all the adults had a drink and all of the kids just had a small game of football.
When we were all around the fire at night there was loads of shooting stars and you could see mars (the planet) really well, so I just stared at the stars for about an hour. It’s actually quite amazing when you think about the stars, I have never really sat there before and looked at them, they are nice :).
Tuesday: Had a shower, the adults all wanted to go to some more castles so they just dropped all us kids of swimming again because I didn’t want to go.
I borrowed my mate’s spare swimming trunks.
About it for that day really, my sister’s phone broke, so I put her sim card in my phone and then that made my phone break.
But they both got sorted.
When the adults had got back from swimming, some git had keyed the whole side of the car, from right back by the boot to right near the bonnet. And it is a nice car, 7 seats, blue.
When it came to go to bed my mate had already gone about 2 hours earlier, so I had to sneak into the tent trying not too wake him up or shine the torch into his face, but once I was into the tent all of the zips were stuck, and the tent would not do up.
The big lilo was in the way and to sort it out I would of needed to wake up my mate and ask him to move.
So I just went and got the keys of my mum and slept in the car, it was way too dark and late to sort out another sleeping place now.
Luckily I have a big car so I could stretch out nicely; still it was as comfortable as I would have liked it to be.
I kept waking up every two hours or so, I woke up at 5.00AM and mars was right above the field and was lighting most of the field up. It was a great sight, so I’m kind of glad I woke up and saw that.
Wednesday: We went to this really old house, it was ok, kind of fun because all of the floors were wonky, so the chairs had to be nailed to the ground to stop them from sliding.
We sat in the gardens for a while and talked, had a picnic and then went off to this castle type thing, but I would say it was more of a mansion.
It was pretty big and it’s garden was on this hill type thing, it had miles of garden so it took pretty much the rest of the day to do.
I took loads of pictures of it too, but I won’t bore you with them.
We went home bout 7.00PM when the place closed and started another big game of cricket, but it got dark quite quickly that night so it was too hard to see the ball so that game ended after about 30 minuets.
Thursday: After almost a week of cold showers, dirty floors and sleeping on the ground we decided to come home.
Took me a while to pack up the car because instead of having two cars and 4 people in one and 2 people in the other and the luggage split up into to too cars I had to fit it all into one car.
So I was folding up the two back seats and fitting in the gas canister and the BBQ and packing 4 other people equipment.
On the way home we stopped in thurok and went shopping in the mall and then went into the cinema to see pirates of the Caribbean. Which is a really good film, I recommend it.
Got home about 7.00PM on Thursday, unloaded the entire car, talked to Luke and Britney.
That’s not even the whole thing; altogether I had about 6 arguments with my mum and about 10 with my brother.
I kind of enjoyed myself, but I think I would off like it more if my mum and brother did not go.
Anyone else been camping, what was it like?

Nah mate, you're confusing it with being behind the steering wheel of a car.
