I while ago I wasn't interested in this at all, thinking it was some sort of Romeo & Juilet with vampires and werewolves. Therefore I thought it'd be all soppy and stuff, with Kate Beckinsdale (sp?) doing a Pearl Harbour rountine. But I saw the trailer for this when watching Freddy Vs Jason yesterday, and it looks class. Kate looking very Matrix, shooting holes in floors, big werewolves running along walls and looking angreeee, dark car chases with a werewolf guy chasing and looking even more angreeee, and just the one Kate kissing scene. From what I gather, she's a hard vampire that kills werewolves, but falls in love with a soppy werewolf who isn't angreeee. Probably worth a watch.
In other news, Freddy Vs Jason is NOT worth a watch. But anyone who doesn't like Kelly Rowland will be happy to see Jason get sort of angreeee with her and mash her in half for the hell of it.
So, thoughts on Underworld? Anyone?

You do raise a good point though, I'm only intruiged about Underworld as it pits Vampires against Lycans. The whole Vampire thing has been done to death, no pun intended. That said I bloomin loved Blade 2 and will doubtless watch B3.

A proven market, created by the Buffy/Angel shows, for vampire related type programming/films. They make what enough people will buy, simple as that.

What's the point?
Yes, and gory, and not in a hollywood stupid kind of way.
It's set in a town in America way up North, which because it's so close to the pole, experiences a month each year with no sunlight. A pile of vampires descend on it as the 30 days begins, and hunts down the townsfolk who cannot fight them - all the usual cliche crap like crosses, etc , doesn't work. Back in New Orleans one of the few people to have seen the vampires in modern times, and survive, learns what is happening and sends people to get evidence... won't say anymore, except it's good. The comic sold out instantly despite being by an unknowen writer and it's worth a fair bit now.
Also a sequel comic is out now, along with a planned movie sequel entitled Dark Days - where the survivors of the original begin to fight the vampires in the modern world, this introduces werewolfs, ghouls, etc as well, on both sides.
It is NOT another John Carpenter's Vampires, but unfortunately for Goatboy has little nudity.

Scott Speedman has been revealing some information about Underworld:
"I'm not playing a werewolf. I'm not playing a vampire. I'm playing this intern who gets pulled into this underworld. Kate Beckinsale plays a vampire, and the werewolves realize my strain of blood can save their race, so they track me and try to get my blood. [There's] a lot of big action. We had a lot of the stunt guys from the Matrix movies and got to do a lot of the wire training. I had a lot of fighting".

Hey, if it turns out to be like Buffy, then it's going to be great. Kate can have teen issues because the werewolf guy turns out to have slept with her vampire best friend. It'll be great.
