A common thing happening at Ireland games is the booing of players who have played or are playing for Rangers.
On Wednesday at the Ireland game everyone going into the stadium was issued with a written warning saying that anyone booing Rangers players would be thrown out of the stadium and banned for 1 year from Irish games.
I'm seriously opposed to the booing of Rangers players and think it a disgraceful act. What do you guys think?
The reason why Rangers players get booed is not because of the whole Celtic/Rangers thing. It actually started when Rangers banned Irish players from playing for Rangers I believe. This is not the case anymore, although no Irish player in their right mind would even consider paying for them these days because of all the grief they would get at home and at Rangers.
Surely there must be some way to ending this nonsense.

Fair enough.

Some clubs are Catholic, some are Protestant, and this causes riots. Being English, I don't know much about it.
In the 1991 census, 38.4% of the population regarded themselves as Catholic, 50.6% as Protestant while 3.8% professed no religion and 7.3% refused to say.
The closest date I could find to the present day.

Actually it's more like 40% of the population or thereabouts.
And no I havent read the Keane biography. I'd had enough of him after the World Cup.
And I don't see where NI and its religion comes into the debate Der Nazi.

Who mostly support the republic. And it's a mnority of around 1/5 of the population. Haven't you read the Roy Keane autobiography?
Unfortunately the two hypercritical bodies manage to interfere time and time again.
Then throw racial abuse into the mixing pot that you here at some stadiums during matches and that's a third.
Any normal individual just want's to go and support their team, cheer for them, give the other side a little stick, and hopefully see a victory, but not everybody is "normal".

Northern Ireland has a large minority of Catholics.
Sol Campbell with Spurs. Lied to them and lost them a hell of a lot of money, then went to their rivals.
Bowyer, did the same for Leeds, well, cost thema hell of a lot of money and just left.
If the player has no respect then why should the fans?
Like the booing of national anthems during international games, which was a problem, and still is, apart from, like on Wednesday night when the England fans like they have done alot recently respected the Croation one.
Also, i find the booing of players who arent playing very well, very annoying. When i go to see Owls games, we have a few players who i think have some talent, but as they havent played well over a period of time, they get booed, often even before the game is kicked off. I find myself sitting in my seat ready for the team list to be called out, and when a certain name is, that player is booed. What good does that do? It does nothing for the players confidence, and these people just wont let these players have a chance. They even often boo every touch they get on the ball.
I often wish these people wouldnt come to the games.
But its a problem i feel wont go away. I suppose it depends what club you are at though, we arent in the best of situations, and im sure better teams who do well dont suffer the problem half as much.
And when Rangers started signing Catholic players in the '80s, there were quite a few problems.
