Firstly it is not a compression type, basically if you left click on a .asx link it plays the movie in Media Player, if you right click it saves the shortcut only. How can I download the movie to my hard drive (even if the movie plays fully in Media Player the save as is still greyed out)

Hope you can help, it may work when I right click and select with "download with getright" - will have to try that when I get home.

I'm stuck again, couldn't get "File Audio Processor 3.0" to do what I want and also tried "burning to CD" option in Media Player (once whole file has streamed) and that won't work, don't know if it's just these few files that are heavily protected or it's the norm.

Any suggestions ?

I'm at work until 6.00 and they get a bit funny - well more than a bit, about downloading and installing stuff. Got a warning three weeks ago that my inbox was 38mb in size and that if I didn't sort it my email account would be closed, and NT is a pain in the ass as I can't log on as an Administrator.

Get an ASX Recorder. There's plenty floating about that can record all types of streaming media and some can even convert it to Mpeg.

I would do it, but downloading anything more than a web page gets noticed by our IT Department !

Don't worry Phillip, I will look tonight, thanks for your assistance

Gimme a min to look but most streaming files are downloaded into the temp files of your PC.

You posted as I was posting Phillip, but think you've hit the nail on the head, or does it just stream from the web ?
