Right, I have the application forms, I have enough money, just about.

If I want to go to canada for a year it has to be now, while I can still claim studentish status. All the other places are more felxible. Which kind of made up my mind for where to go.

So, do I do it, send off the forms (and some money)? Should I go to Canada for a year?

Part of me is thinking 'screw it'. From september I can apply for a job I have my eye on (maybe the only one). In Canada I'll be doing monkey work (well, probably shop work or something).
Last minute nerves or really better than going?
I don't know.

Do I go?

Ah well, I guess I'll give it a go then.
I think.

I really feel like it'll be kind of crap - crap job(s) for a year, providing I can get one (tourist industry will be shot still (SARS), no guarantees of work anyway), and maybe not all that different to living here.

But I think that's nerves or something...

do it - it's something you'll always be able to look back upon with fond memories. It'll give you a large amount of self respect and will be one hell of an adventure.

in my opinion

I'd say go for it - it's a good place and most of the people are great.

Hard call, I'm guessing in your gut you know what you want to do already... part of me would love to go to Canada so I'd say you should go, the other half of me says that when you come back you have to look for a job and it'll be like you missed a year out. As you say, your work in Canada may not be all that great, and I'm guessing not that well paid either (?), hence you could find yourself half a world away from home, doing a crap job for crap wages.

On the other hand it's not the end of the world, and as long as you make sure you ALWAYS have the money ready to walk into an airport with your suitcase at any time and buy a ticket out of there then what's the harm ?

Canada seems a great oppurtuniy, you say its only for a year anyway. Who knows what of how you will feel if you give this chance up.

So i say go for it!!!
