Ralf Firman has a 9 point lead in the drivers Championship and has taken pole position for the Belgium Grand Prix. He won't be so happy to see Championship rivals Villeneuve and Alonso safely in the points position and within striking distance.
As with the one shot laps, there is the inevitable mistake somewhere down the line and this time, De La Rosa drew the short straw. He starts at the back of the field and will struggle to make any impact on the Championship from there.
It was a fairly good day for the majority of the title contenders. Villenueve has only scored 1 point in the last 3 races but starts 3rd for the race. Ralf Schumacher's charge has stuttered recently but he starts 5th. Alonso has seen a 7 point lead disappear and will want to get ahead of Firman from 7th. Raikkonen needs a hefty points haul from 8th. Button and Montoya are just out of the points in 9th and 10th. Trulli needs his main rivals to go out as he starts 13th. Fischella 14th and Verstappen 16th, they won't be too happy. Coulthard is down in 19th.
Firman will be delighted with pole position and he has Frentzen alongside him on the grid and he can only race for pride now. Villeneuve will be right behind Firman on the grid in 3rd and he will know what Championship pressure is all about after finishing 3rd in the Championship last year. Heidfeld is on the brink of missing out on the title and needs to outscore Firman to stay in. He'll start 4th. Ralf Schumacher could drag himself and Williams into the title picture with a good race and Barrichello will want to avoid the wooden spoon for last place in the Championship. They'll start 5th and 6th. Alonso and Raikkonen both need good races from 7th and 8th.

It's a long lap but only 44 laps and with the weather being unpredictable, anything could happen. What is going to happen?
Almost certain not to finish this race first. :c( :cD
Unless Button retires, or Trulli does well.
