Does anyone have O2 where they give you 300 free texts a month as long as you top up 20 pounds? Well does it count if you are abroad? The free texts i mean?
Otherwise it's like 50p per text.

I had to leave my phone behind when I went to Turkey (The part of Turkey I went to is in Asia so O2 will not support it) which I was gutted about. I managed without my phone and since I have not really used much credit on it. I normally spend about £5 a week but I have spent about a quid since I got home last friday.

Oh and if your fone does turn out to be really expensive, you can probably find an internet cafe wherever you are and send free text messages from www.02.co.uk

Have you informed O2 you're going abroad?
If you have and your phone is equiped to work abroad it will count, otherwise I doubt it because the contact says "standard rate text messages" - abroad isn't standard unless you verify with O2 that you are abroad between X and Y dates, so the generic text will be an abroad text.
If this doesnt make sense, wait until you are abroad and send one message. If your balance goes down (assuming you are "pay as you go") then you know it hasnt worked and its only 50p you've spent. If your credit remains the same then it has worked, wahoo.

Phone them then. It might cost you a few quid but you might save a lot more if your going to text a lot abroad...
