My mum went out and i cooked some toast, but set the fire alarm off. I can't see how to shut it up. Help please.

1.Put bread in toaster.
2.Switch on toaster.
3. Adjust setting so that toast doesn't burn.
4. Wait.
5. When toast pops out, spread with butter and eat.
6.If burning smell emanates, toaster setting is too high. Repeat setps 3-5 until adequate toast are made.

yeah but it was the fact i left it going for 7 minutes that burnt it.
