An incident race eventually leads to De La Rosa picking up the win and leaping into the title picture. He will be have been very surprised to have won because the cars in front were a bit faster but they had either bad strategies or kept falling off the road.
The incidents started on the first lap when Wilson spun off and Heidfeld running off the track and just missing him. Firman ran wide a few corners later and it led indirectly to Da Matta crashing out of the race on lap 3. The crashes didn't stop there.
There were numerous minor errors that lost the drivers places and time. Montoya, Fisichella, Button, Verstappen, Barrichello, Alonso, Firman and Wilson all made various errors during the race.
The McLarens looked the fastest cars out there as they took an easy one two off the start. Unfortunately, they were going too fast as Raikkonen lost control and crashed out on lap 7. Coulthard did exactly the same thing as his team mate and crashed out on lap 11. Trulli has every right to blame the car after he retired with transmission problems on lap 8.
Verstappen had already been off the road twice when his engine blew up dramatically on lap 13. Ralf Schumacher had taken the lead after both McLarens had bitten the dust but his suspension gave way on lap 14.
The race settled down as pit stop strategies played out. Two stop looked faster on paper but De La Rosa one stopped and caught every out. Irvine was also one stopping but he retired on lap 36 with transmission problems. Villeneuve was a few miles away from joining Firman on 44 points when his transmission failed on lap 45, the last lap.
De La Rosa takes the win and has Championship ambitions once again. Pizzonia's Jaguar looked very quick but the two stop strategy was wrong and had to settle for 2nd. Frentzen drove the race of his life to take 3rd place after starting 19th. Webber also had a 2 stop strategy and got 4th. Wilson saw a lot of the scenary up close but somehow managed to get 5th. Panis scores some more points with 6th place. Montoya closes the gap a little with 7th place. Heidfeld did as good a job as Frentzen and scores one point for 8th.

It was a surprising race with not much happening to the top 3 places in both Championships. De La Rosa has given himself a chance of winning the title and Frentzen finally gets off the mark.
We head to Round 13 and Hungary for the next race. It's a totally different track to the fast speeds of Germany. Will we get a totally different result? The Championship is nearing it's conclusion and we are in for a cracker of a finish!
:)
Nice race report there Grandprix.
I said that I'd love to see this happen, but I never thought it would.
That really is a shock.
Crappy Fishylegs!
Even Foo'-Man beat me!
