There's a film of Gein's final days of freedom leading to his capture,it's an insight into his lonely life with flashbacks to his domineering mother.
You can really see where similarities and ideas for certain movies came from, like Norman Bates mother figure and the human remains scattered around the house in Texas chainsaw.

There's another lesser known mass murderer called 'Albert Fish',who was heavily into sado masochism and cannibalism during the nineteen thirties, apparently when he was caught,he'd inserted 29 pins into his genitals for his own pleasure.
Sound like a good film, not sure who'd play Fish though.

He had a house in Essex I think and he was always within 2 feet of a weapon be it a gun or knife. Very scary man...

Yep, Ed Gein. Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Psycho, and Buffalo Bill from Silence of the Lambs were all based on him.

Very cool.

The original is nothing to get excited about these days. Its very slow moving and quite boring. Compared to some of the modern horror fikms (despite being directed and acted supremly better) it doesn't really hold a candle on the horror front.

Still can't beat the original Halloween.
