Over the past few years I have been interested in the subject of Graffiti art and the history about it. I know where it originated, the first ever graffiti artist, how its evolved over the years etc. I'm not talking about the willy-nilly "Bob was ere, being queer, drinkin beer 2k+4-1!!!!" stuff, I'm talking about REAL graffiti. Masterpieces on the wall.
People fail to understand that it is'nt vandelism, Its art. Vandelism is where people damage property/write comments about their loved ones. Graffiti is different. Its a way of expressing an opinion/message through these painted "pieces". Over the years it's evolved, Heck its even got a language to describe stuff.
In my opinion, Graffiti brightens up a town if its done properly. Its complexity is awe-inspiring, some pieces are 3D, some are basic. But they look great. It shows the talent some people have, Controlling a spraycan is'nt easy, trust me.
Yes you might not see the logic in all of it, But for us "writers" its a way of expressing a message. Before you think we are just "mindless baboons who are not worth the space they live in" think about the messages people have portrayed over the years. Political messages mostly on how stupid war is etc.
I went into Nottingham today and visited my favourite shop, called "coverage", there you can buy paint, markers (which I indulged in today :P) and you meet other writers and socialise. Its cool.
Graffiti artists are not criminals.
So your opinion on graffiti art? Discuss.

People who copy other peoples "style" are known as "biters". Which usually means that their piece will get painted over.
that is good, id like to have that on my house. :)

Theres a line between Graffiti and Vandelism. Painting peoples houses is wrong, yes.
