Well, now the album's out and it FRIGGIN' ROCKS! I reckon the next single'll be Friday Night. What about you guys?

I'm mainly making this topic though to announce that I'm going to see them in October, as that's when they come back to London. They're just starting a European tour, coming back to the UK in the Autumn. Any of you lot going?

An ironic statement, perhaps, but I don't believe he's being ironic in his "music". And he doesn't rap, he just talks. Like Iain Dury but less skillful.

And the whole debate is pretty defunct seeing as the Darkness are "being ironic" anyway (I don't like using that phrase any more).

Yes they are. The guy said he wanted to do a world tour whilst rapping from an autocue.

The Streets aren't being ironic, and nothing will ever cover up the fact that it's random drivel being SPOKEN, not sung, over any crappy drum and bass beat.

Whether or not The Darkness are similar to hair metal bands of yesteryear makes no difference to what they do, and listening to bands like Manowar won't change my opinion of them. Just because you like/dislike one band of a certain genre, it doesn't necessarily follow that that applies to the whole genre.

Ah but The Streets are being ironic and trying to build a career from it.

The Darkness - for people too young to remember how utterly pants hair-metal was.
Really, go listen to Ratt, Saxon, Manowar etc to see just how cringing The Darkness are.
The only consolation? 2 months from now it'll be "Who?"

but you've soiled my obsession,
you cu nt'

Genius

Kerrang (a poor mag, i know) gave it 5 K's

Last time you posted this link, I just couldn't stop looking at this bloke.

In fact, I now have a copy of the picture saved on my PC.

Why is he standing in the toilets?

I really don't want to have shouty bum sex with him, but, I don't know, I find myself wanting to like The Darkness.

First time I heard them on the radio, I hated them though. I don't get it...?

saw them at the Isle of Wight festival.

The music was alright but they were very good entertainers. New how to handle the crowd, they were pretty good but i'll have to listen a bit more see if i like them.

The album got 0 stars in my local newspaper's "entertainment" mag. They said its too crap to rate.

Freeola & GetDotted are rated 5 Stars
